The Artisan Group is proud to announce this week's Artist Spotlight feature is one of our very talented graphic design and stationery members, Laura Hudson!
We caught up with Laura and asked her a few questions about her beautiful paper goods, and her experiences so far working with TAG. Here's what she said:
- Tell us a little bit about your shoppe. I have always had a love for all things paper and the opportunity to take a fibers class while in art school helped grow that. I loved the process of creating individual sheets of paper and had my first experience to learn book binding techniques. Skip ahead a few years and Studio827 KC was born in early 2010 full of handmade journals. I most recently expanded the shop with a new line of journals embellished with fabric flowers, and coming soon - ruffles! At the beginning of this year I opened my second shop, Simply Paperie, where the graphic design side of me can cut loose. This shop is full of wedding invitations, stationery, calendars, etc. and I welcome all custom orders!
- What is your favorite product in your shoppe and why? I actually think one of my current favorite products (and it might be the typography nerd in me :) are my 2012 calendars. I am also loving my new line of ruffle journals, they will be hitting the shop soon!
- When you're not designing gorgeous personal stationery and super cute journals, what are your hobbies? I have always had a love for photography and wish I had more time to spend doing it. I also love to bake and am looking forward to our annual holiday baking in a few weeks! But in most of my spare time I love spending quality time laughing and having fun with family and friends!
- What do you like best about The Artisan Group? There are so many reasons I love this wonderful group. First, I am so thankful for the opportunities it has allowed me that were beyond my wildest dreams and the encouragement to stretch my creative boundaries. The Artisan Group has given me the confidence to take giant leaps in growing my business and is also the most amazing resource for knowledge and help as a business woman. But, above all this group is comprised of the most amazing, supportive and talented artisans I have had the pleasure to know and I appreciate everyone of you!
